Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski outlines a game plan as America marks 250 years: to build a championship culture you need talent and character, then deliberately develop the culture’s values. “The best teams have the best values,” he says, and lists the principles his teams held: integrity (“do the right thing”); respect (everyone matters); courage (to say or do what needs to be said or done in that moment); selfless service; loyalty; duty; the dignity of work; and trust. Values‑based organizations, he argues, stand the test of time. Moving forward, Krzyzewski urges the nation to teach, celebrate, and — most importantly — live the values that have made America “the best country in the world.”
