An investigation is underway in New York City after multiple locations were vandalized with antisemitic graffiti across Queens. Swastikas and other hateful markings were reported on a synagogue, a Jewish center, several homes and a parked vehicle. The graffiti on the synagogue was drawn over a plaque honoring victims and survivors of Kristallnacht.
City Council Speaker Julie Menin said authorities are searching for at least four suspects who may have been involved. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he is angered by the incidents and stands in solidarity with the Jewish community.
NYPD officials said no arrests have been made and the investigation remains active. Neighbors and members of the local Jewish community told reporters they feel angry, scared and saddened, and that antisemitism has gone too far.
NYPD statistics cited by CBS News show that, of all hate crimes in New York City last month, 60% targeted the Jewish community. Authorities continue to seek information as they investigate the series of vandalism incidents in Queens.
