Updated May 4, 2026 — A shooting Sunday night at a gathering near Arcadia Lake, north of Oklahoma City, sent at least 12 people to area hospitals, police and hospital officials said.
Edmond police spokesperson Emily Ward said officers were called about 9 p.m. after reports of gunfire at a party attended by young people. As of late Sunday night, no arrests had been made. Ward said investigators were interviewing victims and witnesses across the metro area and working to identify suspects.
Ward said 10 people were transported to hospitals by emergency crews while others drove themselves. Hospital officials reported that nine patients were taken to Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City and three were at Integris Health Edmond Hospital; staff said the patients were still being assessed late Sunday and were in various conditions.
Police did not immediately provide details about the gathering, but a flyer circulated on social media after the shooting appeared to advertise an event called “Sunday Funday” near the lake. Authorities established a reunification center for families at a local Walmart, CBS affiliate KWTV reported.
Arcadia Lake is an artificial reservoir about 13 miles north of Oklahoma City used for flood control and popular for recreation, including fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. It sits in Edmond, a suburb of Oklahoma City with about 100,000 residents.
The shooting renewed painful memories for the Edmond community; the city was the scene of one of the deadliest workplace shootings in U.S. history on Aug. 20, 1986, when postal worker Patrick Sherrill killed 14 co-workers and wounded others before taking his own life.
Authorities asked anyone with information or video related to the shooting to contact Edmond police. Investigators continue to work to determine a motive and identify those responsible.
