Erika Kirk announced that she and conservative commentator Candace Owens will hold a private, in-person meeting on Monday, days after Kirk — the widow of Charlie Kirk — publicly urged Owens to stop amplifying conspiracy theories about her husband’s assassination during a CBS town hall.
Kirk posted on X that the two have agreed to pause public discussions, livestreams and tweets until after the meeting, saying she looks forward to a “productive discussion.” Owens also wrote on X that she is “very much looking forward to this discussion.”
The remarks follow a town hall that aired Saturday in which CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss interviewed Erika Kirk. When asked what she would say to Owens, who has promoted various theories about Charlie Kirk’s death, Erika Kirk replied: “Stop. That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
Owens, once a friend of Charlie Kirk and a former employee at Turning Point USA, posted a lengthy video the day after his assassination asking that he be remembered for his career and ideas. In the months since, she has promoted conspiracy theories about his murder and made unsubstantiated allegations regarding the finances of Turning Point, which Erika Kirk now oversees.
The U.S. Treasury Department has confirmed that none of the tax-exempt entities Erika Kirk supervises are under investigation by the IRS.
