Hunter Kozak — a Utah Valley University student who asked Charlie Kirk the final question before the conservative commentator was killed in September — sat beside and posed a question to Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, at a CBS News town hall that aired Saturday night.
Moderated by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, the event included an invited audience and featured other guests such as Robert Milgrim, whose 26-year-old daughter, Sarah Milgrim, an Israeli embassy staffer, was killed in May outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
Erika Kirk spoke candidly about faith, political violence and the state of the American right. She described the moment she forgave the accused killer of her husband and discussed how religion and the Sabbath shaped Charlie Kirk’s life and work.
She also noted the posthumous release this week of Charlie Kirk’s final book, Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life, and reflected on its importance to his beliefs and legacy.
The town hall is the first in a planned series of CBS News town halls and debates. The full video is available on the CBS News website and streaming on Paramount+. An extended version will air on CBS News 24/7 — available on mobile and connected TV — on Sunday at 9 a.m., 3 p.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET, and will be available on demand on CBS News’ YouTube channel.
