The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Ford is recalling 179,698 vehicles because a front-seat component can increase the risk of injury during a crash. The recall covers 117,443 Ford Bronco SUVs and 62,255 Ford Ranger pickup trucks from model years 2024–2026.
Affected vehicles have front seat height-adjust pivot link bolts that can loosen or dislodge from the pivot joint. If the bolts fail, the seat may not perform as intended in a collision, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Owners will receive mailed notifications instructing them to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for inspection. Dealers will inspect the pivot link bolts and replace any that fail inspection at no charge to the owner.
Federal officials said Ford is expected to mail initial notices about the safety risk from May 11–15, with follow-up letters confirming that repairs are available to be sent between July 13–17.
Last month Ford issued a separate recall for nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks over a gearshift defect that can raise the risk of a crash.
