DeLeon Springs, Volusia County, Fla. — On Oct. 23, 2025, deputies arrested 27-year-old Taylor Knoop after they say he staged and shared photographs showing infants and toddlers posed with a loaded handgun, beer and about one pound of marijuana. Authorities say Knoop placed the children near the firearm and the drugs and circulated the images online. When questioned, he allegedly responded, “It wasn’t my kid.”
Investigators who searched the residence reported unsafe living conditions, including exposed wiring and walls in disrepair. Knoop was charged with child neglect and marijuana possession; bond was set at $10,000 and he was arraigned the morning of Oct. 23.
Officials urged anyone who encounters similar images not to share them and to report the material immediately to law enforcement or child welfare agencies so authorities can intervene and preserve evidence. “If you see images of a child being used in a disturbing way you believe are real, please report them — do not share them further,” said Sheriff Mike Chitwood of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Local reaction was one of shock. “I never expected something like this in our quiet area,” said Mary Thompson, owner of Thompson’s Grocery near Spring Garden. Authorities emphasized rapid reporting to prevent the further spread of exploitative material and to protect children involved.
