Netflix raised its subscription prices this week, marking the second increase in about two years. The company raised the cost of its standard plan with ads by $1 a month and increased the standard and premium plans by $2 a month, according to pricing posted on Netflix’s website. Netflix implemented similar price hikes in January 2025 while expanding into live programming; the prior increase was in October 2023.
Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The updated fees take effect now for new subscribers; existing members will be notified in the coming weeks, CBS News New York reports.
The company has been expanding live offerings this year, including debuting Major League Baseball, and has added more video podcast episodes from partners such as Barstool Sports and iHeartMedia.
Market data from S&P Capital IQ show Netflix’s revenue rose nearly 16% from 2024 to 2025. The company’s stock was up about 1.13% before the opening bell on Friday.
Netflix’s new pricing plans:
– Standard plan with ads: $8.99/month (was $7.99)
– Standard subscription: $19.99/month (was $17.99)
– Add an extra member to a standard plan: $7.99/month with ads or $9.99/month without ads (was $6.99 and $8.99)
– Premium plan: $26.99/month (was $24.99)
– Add two extra members to a premium plan: $7.99/month with ads or $9.99/month without ads (was $6.99 and $8.99)
