Feb. 4, 2026 — Lafayette, Ind. — Police arrested a sixth person Wednesday in the Jan. 18 shooting that wounded Tippecanoe County Superior Court Judge Steven Meyer and his wife, Kim, at their home, Lafayette police said. Authorities identified the newly arrested suspect as 23-year-old Nevaeh Bell. Bell faces 12 preliminary felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder and a count of conspiracy to commit murder. Five other suspects were arrested last month following what the Lafayette Police Department described as “a coordinated, multi-state operation involving hundreds of investigative hours.” Those arrested previously were named as 38-year-old Raylen Ferguson and 61-year-old Zenada Greer of Kentucky, and Indiana residents Thomas Moss, 43; Blake Smith, 32; and Amanda Milsap, 45. Investigators allege members of a motorcycle club and a street gang targeted Judge Meyer in a plot tied to a separate criminal case. Police say the shooting was part of a scheme to undermine a domestic violence case against Thomas Moss, who is accused of violent felonies lodged in June 2024. Moss, a reported member of the Detroit-based Phantom MC with ties to the Vice Lords street gang, had been out on bond and was scheduled to stand trial before Meyer on Jan. 20, two days after the attack. Meyer suffered an arm injury and Kim Meyer sustained a hip injury, police said. A recording of the 911 call includes a caller saying someone knocked, announced “we have your dog,” and then a gunshot came through the door. Kim Meyer issued a statement last month saying she and her husband have “great confidence” in the Lafayette police investigation and thanking law enforcement agencies and the medical staff who treated them.
