The family of Ashly Robinson, better known online as Ashlee Jenae, is demanding answers after their daughter died during an overseas trip to Zanzibar with her fiancé.
Robinson was on what seemed to be a dream vacation — celebrating her 31st birthday — when her boyfriend of about a year and a half, Joe McCann, proposed. But within days, police say Robinson was found unconscious in her villa and rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
Her parents say they received a call from McCann acknowledging that something had happened, but they say it was the resort where Robinson was staying that notified the family of their daughter’s death. “It’s under investigation,” one family member said. “And like we said, we just want transparency.”
Investigators in Tanzania held a news conference saying they are questioning McCann and are holding his passport until autopsy results are complete. CBS News’ Jericka Duncan reported the family is demanding answers as officials continue the investigation.
