Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash on a residential road in Florida, and was later released on bond, officials said.
According to police, the 50-year-old golf star was traveling at speed when his Land Rover clipped the rear of a pickup truck and rolled. Woods exited the vehicle by crawling out and officers at the scene described him as lethargic and showing signs of impairment.
Woods submitted to a breathalyzer, which a report described as showing “triple zeros.” When officers requested a urinalysis, he refused. He was charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. No injuries were reported from the crash.
A booking photograph was taken hours after the incident. The arrest and charges come as Woods weighs whether he will be fit to compete at the Masters, which is scheduled to begin in two weeks.
The crash adds to a history of serious vehicle accidents for the 15-time major champion, including a 2021 single-vehicle rollover near Los Angeles that resulted in severe leg injuries and nearly led to amputation.
CBS News correspondent Nicole Valdes reported from outside the jail and provided details on the arrest and the charges filed.
