Updated: November 25, 2025 — A tornado touched down Monday in a residential area outside Houston, damaging more than 100 homes but causing no reported injuries, authorities said.
Photos and drone video shared on Facebook by the Harris County Precinct 3 constable showed roofs stripped of shingles and debris strewn across streets in the Memorial Northwest neighborhood, the office of Constable Mark Herman said.
The Houston Fire Department deployed five members of its saw team to cut and remove fallen trees, HFD spokesperson Rustin Rawlings said.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for southeastern Texas, including Houston, through 1 a.m. Tuesday and posted a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the region. NWS meteorologists plan to survey the damage to assign an official rating for the Harris County tornado.
Forecasters said the atmosphere was unusually favorable for tornadoes for late November: daytime temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s, dew points in the low 70s, and upward motion from both a warm front and a cold front moving through the state. Those conditions contributed to multiple tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings during the day.
Officials said conditions should improve over the next few days, though rain and storms are forecast to return this weekend.
