President Trump likened the U.S. Navy to pirates while discussing its role enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports near the Strait of Hormuz. His comment came as U.S. forces stepped up maritime operations intended to monitor traffic and limit Iran’s ability to move goods through the strategically vital waterway.

Washington says such payments would undermine U.S. sanctions and could prompt enforcement actions against firms that make them. Ramy Inocencio reports.
