Authorities have confirmed at least two people were killed and several others wounded, with eight reported in critical condition. Officials later identified an 11th victim as having been injured by fragments. Witnesses and law enforcement described the suspected shooter as dressed all in black.
Local and federal agencies responded to the campus. Providence leaders provided regular updates and urged the public that the immediate danger had passed. The White House said President Trump had been fully briefed on the situation.
Students reported lockdowns and sheltering in place; at least one student said he hid for two hours after receiving alerts. Investigators are reviewing the released footage as they work to identify and locate the individual captured in the video.
