“Today” host Savannah Guthrie posted a social-media video pleading for the return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing Sunday in Arizona. Authorities have said they believe Nancy was abducted; investigators, including the FBI and local detectives, are involved in the search.
In the family video, Savannah and her siblings thank people for their prayers and describe their mother as “kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving” — an 84‑year‑old they call the center of their family. They said Nancy lives with chronic pain and fragile health and is without the medicines she needs, urging anyone with information to help bring her home.
The family addressed reports circulating in news coverage about a ransom letter, saying they are “ready to talk” with anyone who has information. At the same time they warned that voices and images can be manipulated online and asked for confirmation — without a doubt — that Nancy is alive and that the person contacting them has her. “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman… we will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again,” they said in the message to their mother.
Guthrie’s post is the family’s first public statement since Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. The family said they feel the outpouring of support and continue to work with investigators as more details emerge. Law enforcement has urged anyone with information to contact local authorities or the FBI. The search and investigation remain active.
