Photos supplied by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to ABC News show recent damage to UNIFIL’s headquarters in Naqoura amid fighting between Israeli forces and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group. Some images depict security cameras outside the compound that UNIFIL says were intentionally destroyed by Israeli soldiers. UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel said the force has formally protested to the Israel Defense Forces and reminded them of their obligation to ensure the safety of UN personnel and the inviolability of UN premises.
Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency service reported missile fire toward central Israel and released photos and videos showing apparent damage at an impact site. The agency did not specify whether the damage resulted from a direct hit or from debris after an interception.
The IDF confirmed it struck a petrochemical complex in Shiraz, saying the facility produced chemical components used in explosives and in ballistic missile materials. The military also reported attacking a ballistic missile site in northwest Iran and completing an “extensive strike mission” targeting government infrastructure in Tehran and other locations.
Separately, the IDF’s Farsi-language X account warned Iranians to “refrain from using and traveling by train throughout Iran” until 9 p.m. local time, saying that presence on trains and near railway lines endangers lives.
These developments come amid heightened tensions on multiple fronts, with UNIFIL’s protest highlighting concerns for the protection of UN personnel and facilities and authorities issuing civilian safety advisories.
