A man was arrested Saturday at President Trump’s Doral National Golf Club, just outside Miami, after an alleged disturbance near a security area, the U.S. Secret Service said. The agency said Mr. Trump was not at the club at the time.
Acting Secret Service special agent in charge Michael Townsend said the man approached a security area at about 4:15 p.m. and became, in Townsend’s words, “disruptive and failed to comply with lawful orders.” Townsend said the man “made physical contact with a member of the Secret Service and was taken into custody without further incident.”
The individual, who was not immediately identified, was arrested by the Doral Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence, Townsend said. He added that “at no point did this situation impact the established security posture for the President’s visit to Trump Doral National Golf Club by Secret Service.”
The incident comes a week after shots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., when Mr. Trump was rushed off the dais and a Secret Service agent was struck by gunfire but protected by a bulletproof vest. Authorities have charged Cole Tomas Allen in that case with attempting to assassinate the president.
The Secret Service also cited a prior 2024 incident when agents spotted a man allegedly aiming a rifle at then-candidate Trump at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. That suspect, Ryan Routh, exchanged gunfire with agents, was later convicted of trying to assassinate a presidential candidate and sentenced to life in prison.
