Sen. Marco Rubio called Sunday’s meetings in Florida with Ukrainian officials about a U.S. plan to end the war with Russia “productive,” while stressing that more work remains. The Ukrainian delegation was led by the country’s security chief. Rubio said U.S. goals extend beyond halting current fighting, aiming to ensure Ukraine’s long‑term security so it cannot be invaded again.
Violence continued across Ukraine over the weekend. From Warsaw, Holly Williams reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia struck cities nationwide, employing some 122 drones and ballistic missiles. Near Kyiv, a drone attack hit an apartment building, killing one person and wounding 19, including four children, and once more drove many residents to subway stations for shelter — a pattern seen since the war began.
Ukrainian forces have continued counterstrikes. A newly released video appears to show Ukrainian sea drones striking two Russian oil tankers linked to Moscow’s so‑called “shadow fleet,” which is used to skirt sanctions and support the Russian economy. CBS News said it could not independently verify the footage but noted the clip indicates Kyiv is again finding inventive ways to target Russian maritime assets.
