A United Airlines flight en route from Chicago to New York diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport Saturday after crew members reported a possible security issue, authorities said. United Flight 2092, a Boeing 737 carrying 159 passengers and six crew, landed safely in Pittsburgh at about 11:45 a.m. Eastern Time.
Passengers evacuated the aircraft using emergency slides and were escorted to the terminal, United said. There were no reported injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the diversion and the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office said it was aware of a reported threat, without providing further details.
Allegheny County Airport Authority police deployed the bomb squad and K-9 teams to screen the airplane, and officials reported negative results before clearing the scene. Airport staff and emergency crews assisted with the evacuation and transport of passengers, and airport operations continued normally.
An airport spokesperson emphasized that safety and security remain the top priority. The FBI said its investigation is ongoing, and authorities did not immediately disclose the nature of the reported threat or what prompted the diversion.
