Editorial Policy

The standards behind our reporting: accuracy, sourcing, fairness, independence and corrections.

This policy sets out the standards Kaigo News applies to everything we publish. It exists so that readers know what to expect from us and can hold us to it.

Accuracy

Accuracy is our first obligation. We aim to verify facts before publication, to report figures, names, dates and quotations correctly, and to avoid overstating what is known. In fast-moving stories, such as breaking news, conflicts and natural disasters, initial information is often incomplete or later revised. In those cases we report what is confirmed, make clear what is not, and update our coverage as the facts become clearer.

Sourcing and attribution

Our reporting draws on a range of public sources, including official statements and briefings, court documents, government and agency data, broadcast and wire reports, and the work of other established news organizations. We attribute information to its source so that readers can judge it for themselves, and we make clear when a claim is an allegation rather than an established fact. We do not knowingly publish information we believe to be false or misleading.

Fairness and impartiality

We aim to report fairly and without bias. Where a story involves a dispute or a serious allegation, we seek to reflect the relevant perspectives, including the response of the people or organizations concerned where one is available. Our news coverage does not endorse political parties or candidates.

Legal proceedings

People charged with crimes are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. We describe charges and allegations as such, and we take care in how we report on ongoing legal proceedings, victims and minors.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Our editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, sponsors and any other commercial or political interest. We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage. Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled and kept separate from our news reporting.

Images

Some articles are illustrated with licensed or public-domain stock photography. Where an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of the specific event described, it should not be taken to depict the people, places or events in the story.

Corrections and updates

When we make a significant error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Substantive corrections are made in the article itself. We do not quietly remove published stories to hide errors; an article will only be withdrawn in exceptional circumstances, such as a legal requirement or a serious concern for someone's safety.

To report an error, email [email protected] with "Correction" in the subject line.
