The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses intercepted 119 drones and 15 ballistic missiles fired by Iran on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Defense posted on X. Two drones penetrated defenses and fell inside UAE territory, and one ballistic missile fell into the sea. The ministry said it remains on high alert to protect the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.
Dubai International Airport temporarily suspended operations “for the safety of passengers, airport staff, and airline crew,” the Dubai Media Office said, with procedures handled according to safety protocols. Emirates briefly halted flights but later resumed operations, asking passengers with confirmed afternoon bookings to proceed to the airport while it continued to monitor and adjust its schedule.
Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority extended a closure of Iraqi airspace to arriving, departing and transiting flights for another 72 hours as a precaution, keeping the restriction in place until Tuesday at noon local time. The authority said the decision was based on continuous assessments of the security situation and regional developments and will be re-evaluated as conditions change.
In televised remarks in Farsi, Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian said the United States and Israel “will take their dreams of us surrendering unconditionally to the grave,” appearing to respond to a social media post by former U.S. President Donald Trump that there “will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.” According to state-owned Press TV, Pezeshkian apologized to Iran’s neighbors, saying, “We have no intention of invading other countries” and adding that “there will be no more attacks on neighboring countries and no missile launches, unless attacks originate from those countries against Iran.”
