EA Releases 25 Classic Games on Steam with a Modern Twist
Electronic Arts unveils 25 retro games on Steam, revitalizing beloved classics with Anniversary Editions.
In an exciting announcement, Electronic Arts (EA) is set to revive 25 classic PC games, bringing them to Steam with a fresh appeal. Among these releases are celebrated franchises like Road Rash and the Wing Commander series, now offered in Anniversary Editions.
What’s New in the Anniversary Editions?
These special editions aim to maintain the original charm while introducing enhancements tailored for modern gaming. EA assures fans that the updated titles preserve the “look and feel” that made them beloved, yet they include quality-of-life improvements to enhance gameplay experience on current systems.
The inspiration for these revivals comes from EA’s recent discovery of a hidden trove of legacy media, including Betacam, VHS, and D1 tapes. This extensive collection sparked a major digitization project, enabling developers to restore over 1,500 animated scenes featuring full-motion video (FMV) sequences and giving fans a glimpse back into the series' rich history.
Additionally, the revamped Wing Commander editions feature community-favored mods, further bridging the gap between nostalgia and contemporary gaming.
Pricing and Availability
Players looking to relive their childhood heroes can purchase the Anniversary Editions of Road Rash and the various Wing Commander games for just $9.99. Other timeless classics from the EA library, including titles from the Ultima and Crusader series, will be available at a budget-friendly price of $4.99. They can be found on Steam, GOG, and the EA App.
