RSC and Indian Science Clusters Unite for Innovation Boost
The Royal Society of Chemistry enhances its collaboration with Indian Science & Technology Clusters to promote research and innovation.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
On November 5, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)'s India office embarked on a significant journey by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s Science and Technology (S&T) Clusters, which operate under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India. This collaboration marks a crucial step in enhancing RSC's involvement within India's expanding research and technology landscape, encompassing academia, industry, and start-ups.
New Avenues for Collaboration
The agreement lays the groundwork for productive partnerships between RSC and the eight S&T Clusters across various Indian states. It aims to foster a collaborative environment that brings together local governments, academic institutions, and research organizations.
Key objectives include:
- Facilitating knowledge sharing and resource accessibility.
- Bolstering research capabilities within these clusters.
- Developing initiatives to support women in STEM fields.
- Enhancing the startup ecosystem by moving research from labs to market applications.
Focus on Impactful Innovation
During the event, Dr. Vishal Choudhary, Scientist 'F' and the nodal officer for S&T Clusters emphasized the need for these clusters to accelerate innovation through effective translation of research into scalable solutions. He stated,
"Collaboration leads to the accomplishment of tasks."His words underscored the transformative potential of this initiative in addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges.
Paul French, the Chief Commercial Officer at RSC UK, shared insights regarding India’s growing significance in the global scientific landscape. He expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it offers a prime opportunity for RSC to deepen its commitment to scientific progression.
Advancing Research and Inclusivity
Dr. Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director of RSC India & South Asia, also commented on the importance of the MoU. He remarked that this partnership would create initiatives and projects pivotal to driving innovation and research excellence. This approach aligns well with the overarching goals of sustainable growth within the regions affected.
The signing ceremony took place at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, hosted by DRIIV (Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation). Representatives from all S&T Clusters, participating virtually, showcased the unified vision of this partnership.
